A dual citizen of the US and Canada, Paula Jean has been an actor in film, television, voiceover, theatre, commercials, and video games for 25 years. On screen, she's had the opportunity to play everything from no-nonsense detectives (Quantico, Rogue, Cyberbully, Stealing Paradise), cutthroat lawyers (No Surrender, The Sisterhood) , and icy psychiatrists (The Fischer Case), to loving-if-dysfunctional mothers (Being Human, The Phantom, Gleason), and nice church ladies (Naked Josh).

Her love of storytelling in all its many forms has led her into the world of screenwriting. In addition to co-writing a pilot for a historical drama series, she wrote, produced, and co-starred in the award-winning action-comedy short film Are You My Mommy. It premiered at the 2018 Dances With Films Festival in Hollywood and continued it's festival run through to the end of 2019, picking up several awards along the way, including Best Comedy at the Artemis Women in Action Film Festival, and Best Actress in the Independent Shorts Awards. She is very excited to have recently written Big Picture, her first feature film, and has her sights set on continuing her pursuits behind the camera as well as in front of it.

She is currently based in Los Angeles.

Born in Seattle and raised in Portland, OR, Paula Jean moved to Montreal, Canada when she was barely out of her teens. After a brief stint in the fashion industry, she returned to school, getting her BFA in Theatre Performance from Concordia University. She then had the great privilege of working on stages big and small, indoor and outdoor, from dynamic children’s theatre (The Jungle Book, Brahm and the Angel), to the comedy of Norm Foster (The Melville Boys, Drinking Alone, Maggie’s Getting Married), to Shakespeare (Henry V, The Tempest, A Winter’s Tale), and everything in between.

Upon moving into film and television, she also began working as a voice artist in commercials, narration, and the ever-expanding world of video games, in which she has also done motion and performance capture. She is best known as the voice of heli-jet pilot Faridah Malik in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and she loved the challenge of speaking a primitive yet complex early human language in Far Cry Primal.

Curiosity is the driving force in Paula Jean’s work and life. Whether it’s a character, a story, a piece of clothing, or a piece of equipment, she relishes in taking things apart and figuring out how they work...or why they don't. She can often be found in her sewing room making a pattern from a deconstructed shirt, learning how to build a staircase, or catching up on the newest discoveries about the human mind. Yoga, meditation, and hiking in the natural splendour of southern California are some of her favourite ways to decompress and reconnect. Travel is her greatest source of inspiration.
